Noomane Keskes - Oil Field Seismic Imaging Expert - Seismic surveying is one of the techniques used in Geosciences to explore the Earth’s depths. It provides ultrasound images of the subsurface and data on rock condition. To enhance understanding of reservoirs, Total has developed innovative techniques to process and interpret seismic data to more accurately target drilling programs. Anne Bassères - Water and Ecotoxicity Expert in-the-Making - Total has a responsibility to shrink its environmental footprint as much as possible. The significant amounts of water produced with oil have to be treated appropriately to safeguard the receiving ecosystems and local biodiversity. A test system comprising 16 artificial rivers is used to conduct impact assessments for aquatic environments. The Pilot Rivers system is located at the Lacq Research and Study Hub.  Jean-Pierre Dath - Catalysis Expert for Refining and Base Chemicals - Catalysts accelerate chemical reactions and are therefore critical to most of our industrial processes. In the ongoing search for maximum efficiency, researchers test available catalysts and develop new ones in pilot units at the Feluy Research Center. One of their aims is to leverage the synergies between refining and base chemicals.   Sophie Mariotti - Asphalt Department Manager - Asphalt is the heaviest component of crude oil. Sophie and her teams focus on three main development paths: lowering the application temperature of asphalt, adding bio-sourced products to formulations and extending the life of asphalt. Sophie says you can get very attached to asphalt, because there’s something about its technical properties and all the innovations still to come. Marc Vermeersch - Solar & Alternative Energies Expert - Marc Vermeersch is a physicist and head of Total’s Solar power and new alternative energies research and development department. With his team members, he is focused on developing an R&D strategy for photovoltaic and concentrated solar power. The photovoltaic solar sector has three main channels that target completely different market segments — crystalline silicon cells, thin film cells and organic solar technologies. His job is to prepare a future growth driver for a leading energy company like Total.
